SEASHELL NELL

This is my Camino. Welcome.

Still going still sewing

I was rereading through some of my blog posts, and I came across the one that was like, “BRB sewing LOL.”

And I referenced this image:

My concept-sketch.
My concept-sketch for this one dress.

And this material:

Yellow fohr dayyyyyyyyyyyz.
Yellow fohr dayyyyyyyyyyyz, picked it up in Nashville.

But, I was kind of a jerk and never showed the dress.

BUT HERE IT IS, FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIKE THINGS LIKE SEWING AND DRESSES:

It’s a mis-match of three patterns from different eras. I wanted a nice, full skirt for dancing (dancing this weekend, everyone!! In Ann Arbor!), so that was a priority. The material is a light and float-y cotton (blend?), so I added a draped neckline, too.

Do we want to talk about how this summer shouldn't be counting as summer I'd I've been wearing sweaters and scarves EVERY DAY??

And, in the back, I added a little criss-cross applesauce.

POP.
POP.

Ta da!! And that’s that.

And we should all applaud Lauren, because she was the one who believed in me when it looked near-impossible.

    1. Actually…yes!! This is an abandoned old school parking lot. You hit the nail 100% on the head. My house is down the street and I thought, “Eh…why not?” Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I LOVE that dress. It makes me think of the classic (awesome) 1950’s look. I LOVE anything 1950’s!! I’m an old soul I think. 🙂 <3 Erica Dawn

  2. Danielle that dress is amazing. I have been slowly trying to teach myself to sew…and by slowly, I have made four crayon holders in the two years I have owned my sewing machine, haha. Did you learn from your mother or teach yourself or take classes?
