One day I got a phone call on my work line from a man I’d never met before.
“Hi,” he said, “I heard you’re walking the Camino de Santiago. I want to join you.”
It was bizarre.
The conversation that followed was probably awkward for both of us as I tried to ask important but personal questions (“Are you physically fit?” “Are you prepared for the spiritual journey?” “ARE YOU A SERIAL KILLER?”)
Eventually, though, he was in.
And then two of my priest friends vouched for him, which made everything legit.
And, you know, he’s awesome. At our first meeting he was like, “May I add something?”
I let him. The “something” was a reflection on the reading of the day.
It warmed my heart.
Please pray for Bob today! May he be surrounded by love from our group, love for the Camino, and dwell in the love of Christ!
We love him. He’s awesome.
