I have things I want to say, but not a lot of time to dedicate to them because, by golly, I’d love to pray prayers and wash my face and be in bed by a reasonable hour today. Because, checking all of those boxes may be something I’d love to do this week.
Instead, talk to me. I have so many things in my mind. But, sometimes I'm afraid I don't walk the balance well between internal storms and external interactions. So. Let's talk. I'll number the discussion topics, and you can comment on the one that you want.
Or, of course, you can just read and keep your ideas internal, too.
1. Five-ingredient recipes
Give me your favorites. I would love to explore new territory. I’m going to present this chickpea salad (ooooo! Tell me if you have other favorite chickpea salads!!) and these granola bars. YES.
2. Your favorite plays
Give me the ones that stretched you. I need this information. I contribute “The Yellow Boat” which was about a young boy, optimistic and creative even when a blood-transfer-gone-wrong gives him HIV. SO GOOD. I saw it one night at the local theater, then made my friends come back the next night.
One about St. Joan by the great playwright Shaw, too. Whew.
I also really love “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” but that’s only a movie, so, maybe it doesn’t count.
3. Something you want to do this summer
So there’s this vintage-style baseball league that plays in my city and I’ve always wanted to pack a picnic of, I don’t know, glass-bottle pop and mini sandwiches and stuff and then wave pennant flags whilst sitting under parasols with my friends and stuff.
This is why I don’t have many friends, btw.
4. Something cool you want to share with the class
DEWD. I FOUND THIS NEW DRINKING VINEGAR AND I’M TOTES McGOTES INTO IT.
Actually, I only halfway found it. More like a cool lady I know was like, “Hey, do you want some drinking vinegar?” at a Christmas party and I was like, “Ummmm YES” even though I don’t really like any American drinks like pop or juice or anything and IT WAS SO GOOD I THOUGHT ABOUT IT FOR MONTHS and I finally found some at the local hipster market. Aw yiss. So now I bought it and I say to people, “Do you want to try this?” and most people are like, “No, not really,” and I’m like, “FINE MORE FOR ME YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU’RE MISSING.”
5. I need new blogs to read
Because a few of my old favorites closed down. Nooooo! Blast. Fuel my internet-y fire!!!
And, that’s that. Good night good night!!

#3 sounds like hipster fun event that should happen. I’m all for picnic related things.
#4 I’m currently in Florida visiting my grandparents. Today I went to the beach on Sanibel Island. Along the way to the beach, my grandpa told me to stop at the General store because it’s huge and they’d have anything I happen to need and they have coffee. (Coffee is life). I was looking for something fun to drink besides water and I didn’t want to get a coke because ugh calories. So I found this hippie looking grapefruit soda. SO DELICIOUS. Especially refreshing while in the sunshine on the beach. I can’t remember the name of it though, but I’m assuming they have it at hippie food marts up north.
#1. Sweet potato poutine. Had this in a restaurant, so the recipe is inexact.
Ingredients: sweet potatoes, aioli, stock/jus, cheese curds (Meijer has them), meat bits (ham/bacon/sausage/etc).
Cut sweet potatoes into wedges or slices. Fry or bake them (400-425) until mostly done. Add the curds and meat bits and continue cooking until potatoes are cooked through. Mix in aioli and some jus and serve hot. It is in between a side dish and a main dish.
#4. You can make your own shrub. It’s one part fruit, one part vinegar, and one part sugar. Let it sit in the fridge for a week and shake it daily, then strain out the fruit. This blog will help you: http://bringmeashrub.blogspot.com/. Summer is a good time for it. 🙂
Oh! #3. CYAS. Finally.
