“I meant what I said. And I said what I meant. An elephant is faithful, one hundred percent!”
That’s a quote from Dr. Suess’ Horton. And it’s my second time quoting it on the blog. It’s because I like it.
Anyway, today is actually the fourteenth. But! I promise I PRESENTED it on the thirteenth.
It’s my blog. I make the rules around here.
SO! This is Julia. You have met her already. It’s also her golden birthday this year. In my mind, this was an early birthday gift. Happy birthday, Jules.
I made her a plaque of St. Jude, one of her favorite saints. I started with a ready-made tile-thing. It was a magnet, actually, but I took the magnet off and added what the hardware store guy called a “mirror hanger.”
I say that because we all know I described the “mirror hanger” to the hardware store guy like this, “Hi. I need this thing that you put on your pictures so you can hang them on your wall…but it’s not the kind with the teeth it’s the kind with the little triangle that folds up and down.”
And then the guy was like, “Oh! A mirror-hanger.”
And we walked to these little mini drawers and he was like, “You’ll find what you need here.”
But I was like, “I can’t see any of them.”
This was true because the little drawers were about six feet high. And I only hit 5’5″ on a good day (in the morning. When gravity has not yet kicked in).
So, he picked it out for me. And I bought ’em.
As for the picture, it’s an original, painted with watercolor. I love watercolor. It’s tough and I’m not good at it, but I love it.
Also, my cousin came over and painted her first watercolor ever–a picture of Joseph Ratzinger at seven. It’s SO GOOD.
So, here are my steps, with a bonus picture of my cousin thrown in!
And here’s Julia’s response:
Danielle! My first words were “Your boy, St. Jude boy!” I am smiling and my heart has been warmed by your kindness. Color scheme = boss Watercolor technique = awesome I am so glad that my room can now be graced with the presence of one of my fav. dudes! I have been so blessed by the loving prayers from this wonderful saint! Te amo, chica ๐ -Julia |
