SEASHELL NELL

This is my Camino. Welcome.

NEW INSTRUMENTAL LOVE

THE IMPORTANT THING ABOUT TODAY IS THAT I (FINALLY) BOUGHT A MANDOLIN.

Mandolin

I said to myself, “NELL. Look, I know it costs money to buy a new instrument. But, you get to decide what your life looks like. And do you want more music in it or not?”

And I also said to myself (as I often do), “LOOK. You don’t have a fairy godmother. If you want to do something–just do it. No use waiting for it to magically happen.”

So. I went to a couple of used stores, played a couple of instruments (one was one hundred years old!!) and settled on one that’s nice but not super fancy. The guy who sold it to me smelled like smoke (“I shouldn’t smoke,” he said. “Yeah, it’s expensive,” I said, trying to be kind. “It’s expensive on your BODY,” he said.) and gave me a chord book as freebie.

And I was going to go shopping after circus class and write a blog post. But, instead I played around with chords and songs and The Band Played Waltzing Matilda which is one of my favorite songs, no joke. If you don’t know it, set aside some time, and bam:

Basically, this is why I don’t have anything else to say to you tonight.

Good night.

MORE MUSIC!!!

  1. Elderly Instruments in Lansing. Worth a trip. I like to play the $3000 guitars with my 3 chords and in my head I am the gypsy kings.
