Is it totes lame when bloggers are like, “Look at these photos of this one day”? Probably. And, also, since I was tired about halfway through this day, it doesn’t even feel that warm or fuzzy for me, so we’re just going to knock this out and knock it out fast. Thanksgiving, you ask? I present:
Ear-lay mornin’ rising. Note the darkness outside. Note the tutus. We don’t mess around, it’s Turkey Trot time!!11!Arriving downtowwwn, waiting to meet up with Matt and his homegirn, Beka. Alternatively titled: “Scotty ties his shoe.”Wouldja lookit that. Someone put that on a calendar of Detroit-love. Me, Ceebity-Deebity, Maria-dia, NOTE THIS GUY SINCE HE’S IMPORTANT LATER, Scotty. My reporting skills are top notch, those are everyone’s names WITH proper spelling. Yeah, then we ran a 10K, not pictured since I was, I don’t know, RUNNING.Post Turkey Trot: Ceeebs, Scotty and Dyl. Dyl ran the 10K even though he MEANT to run the 5K. What a beast, amirite? Anywho, how lovely is the sunrise over the river? And HOW CHILLY/ WINDY does it feel after you’re all sweaty??
After ze Turkey Trot, we went home to prep. Here the tiniest Pauliwog and Marcus prepare cabbage to make kapusta. Note my father’s safety glasses and remember: safety makes us safe. Bud vases of flowers, my favzies. Calm before the storm. “Storm” meaning guests. And there was a little storm, please note, on our couch. Early arrival? Yes, and: taking a nap.
DINNER TIME. Even I got in on the party!Post-dinner nap workshop led by Josh (larger green arrow). Full participation award awarded to: Tom (smaller green arrow.)Aaaaaand then people trickled out except for the STRONG SURVIVORS who stayed with us past midnight. See Tony in the corner? He ran with us in the morning, and I invited him to join for dinner. Good thing, too, because we won the elusive “best of nine consecutive Sequence games” award, a challenging title to be sure. And then we collapsed into bed and the next morning Paulie made a waffle covered in: chocolate-malt ice cream, peanut butter, (jam?), (whipped cream?), and syrup, and I was just impressed with that level of dedication.
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. Thanksgiving 2014 IN THE BAG.
