Today is the Feast of the Annunciation. In simpler terms: it’s the day we celebrate when the angel appeared to Mary and Mary gave her “yes.” In even simpler terms: 9 months prior to Christmas. The church knows what’s up, even though you might need to ask your mom.
All I have to share is that I went to mass today and Deacon Don touched on the difference between Mary and Eve. Eve, he said, was tempted to be like God…which is something God wanted, too, but Eve wanted this in a twisted and greedy way.
Mary, on the other hand, was willing to set herself aside. And, through that, she became the most blest among women. <3
In other news, Father Ryan called last night. We're gearing up for Colorado.
"I just need to call the YMCA," (the retreat is in a YMCA cabin) he said, "and ask about the mountain lions before any of you go hiking."
Then I laughed.
"I'm serious," he said.
Oh, adventure. How I love you.
