Hammering out some ‘takes

La la la.
La la la.
Oh hi, friends! So, I wrote a doozy-post on Wednesday, published and said to Christine, “Well, this is either going to go really well or really poorly.”

And yesterday, Thursday, I hit most-hits-ever (563, I think), which isn’t a lot for the blogging-sphere, but it’s a lot for me, so, yeah.

Will this change anything? Probably not. I just believe in honesty.

Weekend weekend weekend–come at me!

Ceebs. Pawl. The leetle Kiwi.
Ceebs. Pawl. The leetle Kiwi.

These two goobers were sitting around yesterday planning their TWENTY-FIFTH birthday party!! Yes. They’re twinz. And their par-tay is Star Wars themed.

I’m going as Admiral Ackbar.

I’m kidding.

OR AM I????

I came out of dinner with-a-friend and I saw this tree full of birds! They were all chirping, it was wonderful. :) How many? I don't know, fifty? Sixty? Let everyone else hate on DST, but I love light in the evenings and I love it hard.

Probably looking for my Admiral Ackbar costume (cough) I went thrifting with my mom and decided to photo-document, yo.

She said, “Are you going to put that on the blog?? Me in a THRIFT STORE?”

And I said, “Yes. Smile.”

But she wouldn’t. So then I was like, “Think about someone you love and then look at the camera.”

And then she was like, “I’ll think about you.” And she started crying.

Oh man, parenthood.

Heh heh heh.
Parenting. What is even going on??

I know you’re all dying to know how my skirt is coming. Last night I had enough of this winter stuff, all cramping my style and forcing me into all boots all the time. So I curled my hair and put on heels and pulled out my sewing machine. I did. Call me June Cleaver.

The skirt I’ve been making has run into its fair share of difficulties. First of all, the pattern I picked ended up not being in the envelope (it was, like, fifty years old)…and that was after I had the material cut. So, I was tight on material and THEN I accidentally cut out a piece with the pattern facing upside down. Arrrrrgh!

I think I have it straightened out, though. Probably because I told Lauren to pray for me and then and only then did I uncover some vintage bias tape in the right color and figure out how to put in pockets (I think. I’m still making this up) on a pattern that came sans-pockets.

I continually tell everyone that Lauren is the best. I said by that.

Remember our retreat last weekend?
Remember our retreat last weekend?
Last weekend I went on retreat, right? It’s been a big week for a few of us planners, with many graces.

One thing that was beautiful on retreat is when my SIL, Esther, talked about how God restores us. She said that sometimes we are going to be restored, other times we are currently being restored…and there are ways where we have been restored.

I think we’re recycling through some Lenten readings at mass and it has been really intense for me to remember where I was last year at this time…and where I am now. God is good.

Also! One year with the new pope! Do you remember where you were when you heard the announcement? I had just transferred to a new department and one of my coworkers yelled, “White smoke! White smoke!” and I ran into his office to watch on his mini T.V.

Ah, Pope Francis. <3 I have more of his apostolic exhortation to share, but maybe it's a good idea to wait on that.

SO! This week I received my first-ever snail mail fan letter for the blog. HANDMADE TO BOOT! Man oh man. That’s some serious love. Gracias, senora, gracias.

As always, thank you to all my readers. Thanks and thanks.

  1. I remember where I was! I had just finished teaching and was sitting in a coffee chop before I had to go to my afternoon watch the kiddos after school job. My mom texted me and my phone was dying. So then I turned on NPR in my car and listened to the whole thing. It was a happy moment. Yay Papa!

One of the things I love about Pope Francis, all my non-Catholic friends ask me what I think of him, because turns out, they love him too.
