Maybe I’ll just talk about my life since it’s my blog…or something.
This Friday starts what we’ll call “Lenten Retreat.”
I’ve said before that I’m excited, and I’ll break it down a little more.
1. I’m throwing it with friends.
2. I really like the schedule.
We have so many things these days…but you know what we lack? Time for silence. Time to listen. And flowers grow in silence and the sun rises in silence…and God speaks in silence. So, we’ve built that it.
BUT (in caps!) we also really, really believe in the total-ness of a person (and so does God!) so we have time for visiting and hiking and interpretive dance…whichever ones you pick.
3. I really like the women attending.
They are all incredible women. Truly incredible. I never understand why people/ books/ Christian culture is like, “So, men are warriors” like it’s a one-gender-only thing. Because I feel like I pick up my sword every morning and swing it all day long. The moral/ healthy/ upstanding life is a life one must fight for, men and women alike. And the women who are attending are warriors. They fight hard. They love hard on their communities and schools and workplaces and churches. And I love them for it. I can’t wait to talk more with all of them.
I’m still preparing, though. Including for…
1. Confessions.
I wanted two priests, but only one has said yes. Oh man. He’s going to be a busy man. Send me some positive vibes–maybe we’ll find another!
2. Food.
Get this: meat-free, dairy-free, meat-free, sugar-free menus. All weekend. Good thing I have an inflated sense of “I can DO this!” La la la!
3. People.
Good news, though! I was a tiny bit worried about attending members…but! Unfounded worries. We’re exactly where we need to be, thanks be to God!
