St. Maximilian Kolbe – Halo Boys Frameable
$5.00
As a child, St. Maximilian’s mother once exclaimed in a moment of frustration: “What will become of you?“ The curious boy took this question to Mary, and saw a vision where Mary held two crowns before him, one white and one red. The white one meant that he would live a life of purity; the red that he should become a martyr. St. Maximilian told Mary that he would accept BOTH crowns. St. Maximilian became a Conventual Franciscan, and promoted a devotion to Jesus through Mary. Kolbe founded a new monastery in Poland (his home country), and also departed for mission in China, Japan, and India, founding monasteries there as well.
Returning to Poland, St. Maximilian witnessed the outbreak of WWII. He hid 2,000 Jews in his monastery, and continued to publish religious articles. In 1941 he was arrested by the Nazis and taken to a concentration camp. When another prisoner was sentenced to die, St. Maximilian offered his life in the place of the other man. (1894-1941)
