St. Maurice – Halo Boys Frameable
$5.00
St. Maurice is an early Christian saint, born around AD 250. Probably hailing from Egypt, he became a Roman soldier who was promoted to commander of a legion (around one thousand soldiers); almost all of the legion were Christians, including St. Maurice. The Emperor Maximian ordered St. Maurice and his legion to quash a Christian community, but St. Maurice refused because of their shared beliefs. The Emperor responded by ordering every tenth soldier in the legion to be killed, known as “decimation“. A second decimation followed, and then the entire legion was executed, St. Maurice included, at a site in current-day Switzerland.
St. Maurice is patron of armies, the Swiss Guard, soldiers, and more. Many European countries claim him as their patron. As you travel through Europe, you may see a dark-skinned soldier gracing art in churches and museums: a nod to centuries-long devotion to this African saint.
-The text reads: “St. Maurice pray that I may be Righteous”
-The hefty coverstock paper is 5″x7″, artwork is a smaller piece
– Print comes with a description of her life history on the back
– The print is sold unframed, but, I made the paper a size that is super easy to find in most stores. I figured I’d save you the $ on shipping.
– Print will come in a plastic sleeve, with some protective cardboard, in a bubble mailer.
The “Halo Girls” set is my artistic celebration of the wonder and diversity of God’s call…to every one of us. <3
